15 Minute Recipe: Maple Syrup Snow Candy

Turn your snow storm into a snow snack!

This classic Canadian winter treat is best served after a fresh snowfall and shared amongst friends! Unlike most recipes, this one couldn’t be easier (trust us, even we could do it) - but timing is KEY.

Ingredients:

- A good pile of fresh fallen snow
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- ½ tsp of salt
- Enough popsicle sticks for you to share

Step One:

Step outside and scout the perfect patch of fresh snow for you to create your maple syrup taffy with. Lightly pack the snow down to give you a snow table top to work with.

Step Two:

Inside, add your maple syrup to a small saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring often, until your mixture is 115°C ( about 10 to 12 minutes). Remove from heat.

Step Three:

Outside, pour your maple syrup into long strips on top of your packed snow. Quickly sprinkle a small pinch of salt over each syrup strip. Then, use your popsicle stick to press gently on 1 end of each strip; as the syrup is cooling, roll it up around the stick.

Step Four:

Personally, we think this treat is best eaten outside in the freezing cold - however, to enjoy your taffy indoors, bring with you a baking tray with parchment paper placed on top.

Enjoy, eh?
